After forty years working inside the automotive industry — at domestic stores, a Toyota dealership, running a Saturn store in the 90s, and spending a decade marketing dealerships with AutoTrader.com — I've seen every trick in the book. I've watched buyers fall in love with a car that looked perfect on the outside, only to discover thousands of dollars in hidden problems after the paperwork was signed. I knew what sellers and dealers don't volunteer, and I knew most buyers had no way to find out.
That knowledge put me in a unique position. During Covid, dealerships started calling on me to source and purchase vehicles from private parties on their behalf — because they trusted my eye and my judgment. I was doing inspections and evaluations every week, and it became clear that private buyers needed exactly the same service. Someone in their corner. Someone who'd been on the other side of the table and knew what to look for.
